Can you calculate the kinetic energy of a moving object?
GCSE Physics Equations Quiz
This quiz is designed to help you practise using the equations for your physics exams. First, look at the equations on the equation sheet and then attempt the quiz. If you fail, look at where you went wrong and try again until you pass! Ensure you have finished the rearrange equations quiz first or you’ll struggle to pass this quiz. How to use equations –
Using equations means taking the values from the question and putting them into the equation.
For example:
Force = Mass x Acceleration
If a question asks what is the force of an object that accelerates at 2m/s and has a mass of 10kg, all we need to do is swap 2 for mass and 10 for acceleration and that’s it! Multiply the two together and you get 10N.
I keep making mistakes, how can I avoid them?
Follow this process to avoid making mistakes:
1) Find the correct equation on the equation sheet or from your memory
2) Rearrange the equation if necessary.
3) Check the question for any unit conversions you need to do
4) Write down the calculation you need to do.
5) Enter the calculation into the calculator and check it is the same as you have written down
6) You are finished, with an exam, you should go back and check each of these steps in case you missed something.
IF you use this process, you will eliminate more than 90% of your errors because most of the time a simple unit conversion or calculator mistake is to blame for incorrect answers.
One more thing. Look out for standard form, be careful to use it correctly and always check the question for a number of decimal places or significant figures to answer to.
