Quiz Data Privacy Policy

This page explains what data may be processed when you use Discover Tutoring quizzes and learning tools. Some tools work only in your browser. Other tools send data to our server when you use saved progress, accounts, AI marking or OCR.

What data may be used?

Depending on the tool, we may process questions, answers, scores, results, timings, selected settings, technical session IDs and security data.

Ladder Dash may process a chosen nickname, a hashed password, game history, ELO rating, wins, losses and feedback.

DT Mastery may process a hashed passphrase, session token, practice history, mastery progress, written answers and marking feedback.

Optional images of handwritten answers may be processed when you use OCR or AI marking. Please do not include personal information in a nickname or answer.

These tools do not require your real name or email address. An IP address may be used temporarily for security and rate limiting.

Browser storage

Cookies, session storage and local storage may hold session tokens, preferences or progress.

Times Tables progress is stored in your browser only and can be reset using the tool’s reset button. The other maths games do not save progress to a user account.

Server and AI processing

When server-based features are used, we may store attempts, scores, progress, game history, marking feedback and parts of submitted answers.

Some question-generation, marking, OCR and moderation features send the relevant question, answer, nickname or image to OpenAI and/or Google Gemini through our server.

Easy and Medium Negative Numbers questions are generated in your browser. Hard Negative Numbers questions are generated on the server using OpenAI.

Temporary uploaded images are removed from our server after processing or expiry.

Retention and deletion

Session data and temporary uploads expire or are removed automatically. Saved account records, progress and game history may remain until deleted or no longer needed.

Some quiz attempts, scores and marking records are stored without a name or email address and may be retained to improve the service. Because these records are anonymised, they cannot be linked to an individual or deleted individually.

Ladder Dash and DT Mastery provide account-deletion controls for account and login details. Historical or anonymised game and learning records may remain.

Clearing browser data does not necessarily delete server-side records.

Security

Data is sent over HTTPS. New passwords and passphrases are stored as hashes. We use reasonable security measures, but no online system can be guaranteed completely secure.
